🎯 What is Pace Mastery?

Pace Mastery shows how runners managed their speed throughout the race. Each line represents one runner's pacing strategy from start to finish.

🏆 Elite Pacing (Flat Lines)

Consistent pace throughout - these runners maintained steady speed and didn't slow down much. This is the gold standard!

📈 Positive Split (Rising Lines)

Started fast, slowed down later. Very common! Most recreational runners experience this as they tire.

📉 Negative Split (Falling Lines)

Started conservatively, finished strong! This is advanced pacing strategy used by experienced runners.

💡 How to Read This Chart:

  • X-axis (horizontal): Distance markers throughout the race
  • Y-axis (vertical): Pace in seconds per kilometer (lower = faster)
  • Each line: One runner's journey from start to finish
  • Lower lines: Faster runners (better pace)
  • Line slope: Shows if they sped up, slowed down, or stayed consistent
